Eduardo Camavinga

I’m including defensive midfielders in this list, which is good since Eduardo Camavinga deserves more kind words written about him. The 17-year-old defensive midfielder would be an ideal heir to Casemiro’s spot in the lineup, as he has the potential to be the absolute best defensive midfielder in the world one day, just as Casemiro currently holds that distinction.

Camavinga, according to WhoScored.com, recorded more than four tackles per game last season in Ligue 1. His star-making performance occurred early in the season against PSG, which put him on Real’s radar. Camavinga, despite his age, is already one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe and makes a jaw-dropping number of defensive interventions. He clearly has the quality.

Rennes have resisted selling Camavinga, but because of the situation in football right now, they will be forced to sell the teenage phenom at an affordable rate. Real Madrid seem to be Camavinga’s dream landing spot, and Zidane seems just as keen to sign him as he is to sign Paul Pogba this summer.

It would be a surprise if Camavinga doesn’t join Real Madrid. Although he’s young and could get game time early to help give Casemiro much-needed rest, Casemiro’s quality means that there won’t be too much pressure on Camavinga in his first season at the Santiago Bernabeu.
