Ready To Make A Difference
In addition to being young and full of upside, Ferran Torres is already capable of excelling in the limelight. He seems to elevate his game on the biggest stages, as Real Madrid fans can attest when he scored the first goal against them in a December La Liga match.
But Torres was at his best in the Champions League group stages for Valencia. The right winger had two goals and two assists in only 481 minutes of action, averaging 0.75 goals and assists per 90 minutes in the competition. Torres averaged 1.7 key passes per game, 1.8 fouls drawn per game, and 2.0 dribbles completed per game in Europe last season.
Once again, Torres had the most passes into the penalty area and the second-most key passes per 90 minutes among Valencia players in the Champions League, statistically dominating chance-creation, ball-carrying, dribbling, and positional attacking metrics to an even greater extent.
With all his minutes at the top level already and his ability to take on great responsibility for a big club in Spain, Torres is ready for a leap like so few other young stars. He’s no Jadon Sancho or Kylian Mbappe, of course, but at 40 million euros, Torres has the traits and production to be a bargain signing who could blossom as an ideal right winger for Real Madrid.
