Here are the five most pivotal games of the 2019-2020 La Liga and Champions League campaigns for Real Madrid thus far.

Before the 2019-2020 La Liga and Champions League campaigns were postponed, Real Madrid were second in the league table and set to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium for the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16.

Los Blancos were headed for some more crucial games that would tell the full story of the season, but even though the campaign is still, technically, ongoing, it’s a good time to hit the reset button and look back at the team’s five most pivotal games to this point.

Los Blancos faced Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in late September, shortly after suffering a humiliating loss in the Champions League at the Parc des Princes to PSG. Even though the Ligue 1 giants were without superstars Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, they made quick work of Real.

But Zinedine Zidane‘s side responded from the loss with a gutsy display at one of La Liga’s toughest stadiums. Julen Lopetegui‘s men came into the match looking dangerous, but an industrious Real Madrid side suffocated them defensively, with Karim Benzema providing the lone goal in a 1-0 win.
