Let’s relive Isco’s three best performances with Real Madrid this season.

Real Madrid attacking midfielder (Franc)Isco Roman Alarcon was born on April 21, 1992. The Spanish international turned 28 yesterday. To celebrate, let’s look back at three of his best performances in the Royal White jersey this season.

After a tough 2018/19 season plagued with injuries and problems with Solari (Real Madrid’s manager at the time), Isco hoped to make a comeback this season under Zidane. But not everything goes to plan.

Real Madrid’s midfielder started the season with another injury. He then got thrust into an unfamiliar defensive midfield position against Mallorca, which did not help his cause. However, Isco did not lose hope. He kept on working hard to get fit and get back into the starting eleven.

His hard work paid off, and he seized his opportunities with some excellent performances against PSG in the champions league and Barcelona in La Liga. He ended 2019 in solid form, but he saved his best performances for this season for 2020.

3. vs. Barcelona at Bernabeu, La Liga (03/01/2020)

Real Madrid needed a win against their arch-rivals after a disappointing defeat against Manchester City in the Champions League just three days earlier. Los Blancos delivered on the night with a 0 – 2 victory, and while Vinicius Junior will get all the limelight for his explosive performances, Isco and Toni Kroos was the mastermind behind the superb performance.

The former Malaga man did not have the electrifying stats in this game, but his pressing and press-resistance game was on point. His ability to evade tight spaces helped Real Madrid escape Barcelona’s high-press.

In the second half, Isco was relentless in his pressing, and he conjured a magnificent curling attempt from outside the box, but Marc Andre ter Stegen made an equally stunning save. That was the turning point of the game, and Real Madrid did not look back after. He had three completed dribbles and three completed tackles.
