It’s becoming evident that Real Madrid will be unable to sign Kylian Mbappe in 2020, so their attention has reportedly turned to two center midfielders.

Over the long term, there is no doubt that Kylian Mbappe is Real Madrid‘s dream target. The attacker can excel as a center forward or wide forward on either side, bringing the star power and goals that Los Blancos so desperately need with only one player, Karim Benzema, having scored more than five league goals in 2019-2020.

However, it’s highly unlikely Mbappe will be made available by PSG this summer. PSG are Champions League title or bust with Mbappe and Neymar in the same squad, to the point where they may even be willing to let the former’s contract expire after 2021-2022 in the pursuit of that elusive championship.

Since PSG won’t sell Mbappe at any realistic price in 2020, Real Madrid have reportedly turned their attention to two new priorities.

According to a report from L’Equipe’s Damien Degorre, via Infinite Madrid on Twitter, center midfielders Paul Pogba and Eduardo Camavinga are Real’s top targets now.

Zinedine Zidane seems to be in love with both players, as Pogba is a long-time target of his. Florentino Perez may have his reservations, but with Manchester United not giving Pogba what he deserves to excel at the club and his transfer price set to fall under 100 million euros, this could be Real’s opportunity to swoop. Pogba is a tremendous player who can be a difference-maker for Los Blancos.

As for Camavinga, there may not be a more impressive teenage player in world football than the Rennes star, who has been on Real’s radar since the Fall. Camavinga’s stock has skyrocketed since his breakout game against PSG, with the Ligue 1 giants also interested in Rennes’ most valuable player.

Camavinga will reportedly cost 50 million euros, and Real Madrid seem to be the overwhelming favorites to land the 17-year-old defensive midfielder. He looks like the heir apparent to Casemiro at the heart of the Santiago Bernabeu.
