Real Madrid acquired Reinier Jesus for 30 million euros from Flamengo in the winter transfer window, and the attacking midfield prospect could be ready for action in 2020-2021.
Florentino Perez’s quest to find football’s rising stars at a young age involved the signing of Reinier Jesus from Flamengo during the 2020 winter transfer window, as Real Madrid signed the 18-year-old for a reasonable 30 million euros.
Reinier quickly made an impact at Castilla, scoring a brace in March for Real’s youth team Castilla in a 4-0 win over Coruxo. The No. 10 has all the traits to be a future star for Los Blancos, so Real will want to make sure his development takes another step in 2020-2021.
As such, MARCA’s José Félix Díaz reports that Real Madrid are considering loaning Reinier out for the 2020-2021 season. While the initial plan has been to give him regular playing time for Castilla in the Segunda B division, a loan deal could accelerate Reinier’s development if the right fit can be found for the 18-year-old. After all, Takefusa Kubo impressed on loan at Mallorca in 2019-2020 as an 18-year-old attacking midfield after being signed in the summer of 2019.
Reinier did not play much at Flamengo and is a raw talent, but for someone with so little experience, he has such a great feel for the game in the attacking third. His technical quality, vision, and end product are all special.
Real Madrid have shown patience with young players, and Perez prioritizes ensuring they get playing time. Another year at Castilla seems to be the expectation for Reinier, but if the right fit in the second division or even in La Liga can be found, then Reinier may be capable of receiving regular minutes at an even higher level of competition.
It’s highly unlikely for Reinier to be called up to the first team next season, so if Real want to put more on the Brazilian’s plate, a loan deal would be most likely.
