With the 2019-2020 La Liga and Champions League seasons suspended, it’s time to take stock of how Real Madrid has done in the second half of the campaign.

Real Madrid are second place in La Liga and behind 2-1 in the Champions League Round of 16, but Madridistas should be optimistic about their team if the 2019-2020 season returns. Despite the stumbles against Levante, Manchester City, and Real Betis, the win over FC Barcelona in El Clasico shows exactly what this club is capable of achieving.

Los Blancos will improve by leaps and bounds in the coming months, as young stars like Sergio Reguilon and Achraf Hakimi are set to return from highly successful loan deals, Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio will make their way back from injury, and a new scoring threat could be on the way in the summer transfer window.

Until then, it’s time to reflect back on some of the positives of the 2019-2020 season so far. Here is a look at Real Madrid’s top three players from the second half of the Champions League and La Liga campaigns, and, yes, the defense will be well-represented after an excellent run of form from the back four and top goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
