The Goals

With his passing, calmness on the ball, and ability to leave defenders for dead with brilliant close control, Paul Pogba can set up attacks for those around him. But in addition to being an unselfish creator, Pogba can score goals himself.

Goals are at a premium for any team, but especially for Real Madrid. The club only had one player with more than five goals last season in Karim Benzema, and when he slumped in the second half of the season, Real’s attack floundered.

Aside from adding a top-scoring forward like Sadio Mane or Erling Haaland this summer, Real Madrid would do well to add more goals in midfield. Last season, Casemiro, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric had nine goals among them. Sergio Ramos was second on the team with five goals behind Benzema.

Meanwhile, in his last healthy season, Pogba scored a whopping 13 goals for United despite having to deal with incompetent managers and a poor supporting cast. Pogba can take on scoring responsibility and his technical quality has led to some of the best goals we’ve seen. Look no further than his outside-the-boot volleys at Juventus.

Pogba has scored five goals in a league campaign seven times in his career. Tell me that’s not production Los Blancos can use in 2020-2021.
