Since the 2019-2020 La Liga and Champions League seasons have been postponed, it’s time to take a look back at Real Madrid’s top five games of the campaign thus far.

Real Madrid will have a lot of work to do when football returns, since Zinedine Zidane has clear ambitions to win a fourth Champions League football and assert his team’s dominance over rivals FC Barcelona. Though Real soundly defeated Barça at the Santiago Bernabeu in March, they slipped back to second in the table the following week at Real Betis.

Still, everything is looking up for Los Blancos with Zidane at the helm and a cast of ultra-talented young players.

Here were Real’s top five games in the 2019-2020 season, ordered chronologically.

5. Sept. 22 at Sevilla

Real Madrid were coming off an embarrassing 3-0 loss to PSG in their Champions League opener when they traveled to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan – a notoriously tough place to play. Sevilla were a resurgent team under Julen Lopetegui, who had a point to prove to Real after being sacked due to a woeful start to the 2018-2019 season at the Bernabeu.

As expected, Sevilla played Real tough, but Los Blancos were tougher. Everyone from James Rodriguez to Gareth Bale chipped in defensively as Real recorded a major bounce-back win and clean sheet, with Karim Benzema providing a clutch big-game goal in the 1-0 victory.
