It is completely unclear if Real Madrid will even be able to make any signings in the summer transfer window this year. COVID-19 has left football in a difficult situation with no games played and no revenue, so transfers are the last thing on many team’s minds.
Real Madrid are in a fortunate situation as a powerful club, since they don’t need to worry about a crisis situation. Smaller clubs and clubs with debts, such as FC Barcelona, aren’t in such stable situations right now.
Still, Los Blancos must be prudent with their money, and that could mean a freeze on all transfer activity this summer. The club has a few talented players out on loan, such as Achraf Hakimi and Sergio Reguilon, who could return this summer, but they may have difficulty clearing space since other clubs probably won’t have the money to take on Gareth Bale or even James Rodriguez.
