LW Vinicius Junior

The other Brazilian teenager for Real Madrid last season, Vinicius Junior made most of his appearances as a left winger. Vini is a completely different player from Rodrygo, as he spend more time setting up chances and playing a creative role. His style was similar to Eden Hazard’s, in that he mostly affected the build-up play and used his confident dribbling skills to impact games.

Hard-working as ever, Vinicius finished the 2019-2020 season as one of Real’s most important players by the time February and March hit. He set up the matchwinner as a substitute against Atletico Madrid in February and then scored the decisive goal at the Bernabeu against Barcelona one month later in a game he dominated.

Vini is still improving, but he’s already on a great trajectory and is an X-Factor for Los Blancos.

Grade: B+

RW Lucas Vazquez

Lucas Vazquez is an easy player to scapegoat, especially in games where he looks out of his depth as an attacker. But when Real Madrid fans are honest, they understand Vazquez is a valuable player to have in the squad, even if he doesn’t have the quality to start every game.

Another hard-working winger who never stops running up and down the wing, Vazquez did a lot to support the overworked Dani Carvajal defensively. He also quietly scored three goals with an assist to average 0.33 goals per 90 minutes – a decent return for a player who isn’t asked to be a scoring threat.
