When – or if – the La Liga campaign is restarted, Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez has openly backed his team to come out as champions. With 11 matches remaining, Lucas’ words should give Madridistas and his teammates confidence.

In a recent interview, forward Lucas Vazquez said that he is confident Real Madrid can close out this campaign with the league title.

Real Madrid has not won the La Liga title since the 2016/2017 season and is desperate to dethrone rivals FC Barcelona at the top.

“All the Madrid players are professionals. We are handling quarantine very well, training a lot, and when we play again, we are going to win La Liga,” Vazquez said when speaking to Vamos.

In this particular instance, I have to agree with the Spaniard. The club is well past the toughest part of their schedule – it was in the fall when they played Barca, Atletico Madrid, and Valencia on the road – and will have at most two very difficult matches remaining.

Zinedine Zidane‘s side will have to face Martin Odegaard and Real Sociedad at some point and will also have to deal with Getafe who is on the brink of securing a Champions League spot for next season.

But, if the season is to resume in June like some reports have indicated, there is a very good chance that two key forwards – Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio – could be back to 100 percent.

Plus, this layoff has given the players plenty of time to rest and recuperate after a grueling slate of matches in February and early March.

On the other hand, players like Vinicius Junior, Federico Valverde, and Thibaut Courtois could have lost the stunning form they were in for most of the season before play was halted.

Remember, Real Madrid was great against Atelti and Barca this season. They did not allow a goal in five matches against the two rivals and defeated Barca 2-0 on the first of March before falling to Real Betis on the road 2-1.

Trailing Barca by just two points, all Los Blancos can do is win out and hope the Catalans slip up with either two draws or one defeat. The league title is well within reach for Real Madrid and fans should keep the same confidence Lucas Vazquez has shown.
