Reports indicate that AC Milan has reached out to Luka Jovic‘s agent to try and bring the Serbian striker to northern Italy. Don’t worry, Jovic will not be leaving Real Madrid any time soon.

A slow start at a new club is not the end of the world or the end all be all for a player. When you consider the exorbitant amounts of pressure that 22-year-old Luka Jovic had to deal with, you can better understand why he struggled.

Coupled with Karim Benzema‘s stunning form all year and his consistency in front of goal, it was much more difficult for Jovic to make his name with Real Madrid after coming over from Eintracht Frankfurt during the summer.

Furthermore, when any club pays upwards of $60 million for a player, the attention is going to be exaggerated as everyone tries to determine if the price tag was fitting of the performances on the pitch.

AC Milan is looking to rebuild its team and even though they have Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Rafael Leão, they are interested in signing Jovic.

In 24 appearances before play was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, Luka made 24 appearances and tallied just twice. While 24 appearances and just two goals seem like a poor season, it is worth keeping in mind that the Serbian international made just eight starts.

Whether it was Benzema’s form or struggling to adapt to life in Spain, Real Madrid should not be looking to offload Luka Jovic after a shortened first season.

Reports have indicated that Napoli is also keeping tabs on Jovic’s situation, but the two Italian clubs are not willing to match the price tag Los Blancos paid to Frankfurt nearly a year ago.

Of the three strikers on Real Madrid’s books at the moment – Benzema, Jovic, and Mariano Diaz – there seems to be little doubt that Mariano will not be back at the Santiago Bernabeu in the fall. Even considering selling Jovic is a mistake.

At a time like this when goals have been hard to come by, Real Madrid coaches, staff, and fans should be motivating Luka and helping him shake off the slump he has been in for a few months.

This guy is far too talented to not find his footing and make the critics rethink what they have been saying in the last few months.
