After two months away from training and match play, Real Madrid will return to the Valadebebas as a team on Monday. Here’s what you need to know!
After months of waiting and little information coming out of Spain regarding the future of football for this year, Madridistas, your first-team will return to the Ciudad de Real Madrid to train for the first time in over two months on Monday.
A lot has changed in the world over the last couple of months and there are some good and bad things that we must focus on when the team gets back out on the training ground this week.
Here are three things to keep an eye on.
General fitness levels
The first week or two of training should provide us with a better idea of how Real Madrid players are feeling physically after spending such a long time apart.
It is important to remember that there will be no group drills the first 14-days, so, players will be working individually at the facility both inside in the gym and outdoors on the practice pitches.
While most of the healthy personnel from early March should still be in pretty good shape having done workouts from quarantine, it is hard to replicate a training session in one’s own house.
We have seen social media posts from several of the firs-team guys like Sergio Ramos, Luka Jovic, Rodrygo Goes, and Marco Asensio showing the work they are doing, but it’s a very different game when there is a coaching staff looking over each and every move and decision.
Don’t be too surprised if some players are not in the shape Zinedine Zidane wants them right away. The good news is that match play is still over a month away, so, everyone should have plenty of time to get reacclimated to the rigorous schedule the fitness team has in place.
