CM Toni Kroos

German midfielder Toni Kroos has been a fixture for Real Madrid over the past several years and is rightfully acclaimed by fans around the world as one of the world’s best center midfielders. There are very few passers who can be compared to Kroos. Not only did he lead all players in the Champions League group stages in key passes per game, but he also completed a jaw-dropping 93.6 percent of his passes in La Liga, according to WhoScored.com.

Kroos is one of the most aesthetically pleasing players to watch. His finesse shots from outside the box are hit with perfect technique, even if he often catches them first-time and in tight spaces. The 30-year-old pings difficult passes across the pitch with expert precision, and his vision of the full field is second to none in La Liga.

While some have criticized Kroos for his defending, he is, in fact, an excellent presser with smart positional sense. He only gets into trouble if asked to cover too much ground or play too defensively. His performance against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan shows how he can help a team’s defense with his work in the final third.

Kroos had another brilliant season for Real Madrid, providing delicious set-piece deliveries and metronomic passing to keep possession. It’s too bad his work has been overlooked this year.
