Real Madrid will aggressively attempt to find a suitor for forward Gareth Bale this summer, and a new suitor in the Premier League could be the lifeline Los Blancos need.

Due to the economic crisis in football resulting from COVID-19, Real Madrid will reportedly have a “sell to buy” policy, meaning they will need to cut loose high-priced veterans before they pursue the top-notch goal-scorer they seek.

Former record-breaking transfer Gareth Bale is undoubtedly a Real Madrid club legend, having won four Champions League titles while scoring important goals in trophy-winning matches. However, Bale flopped in his final chance to show Zinedine Zidane and the club he can still be a star player, as he failed to score in La Liga after the first month of play.

Bale has high wages and will need to be sold this coming summer, but it will be difficult for the club to find a suitor. Everton, Manchester United, and Tottenham have been linked with Bale in the Premier League, which seems to be the right winger’s most likely final destination, but none of those clubs should even think about a transfer. Real may even have to let Bale go for free, given his wages and the reluctance of another team to pay both wages and a transfer fee.

However, MARCA’s Juan Ignacio García-Ochoa reports that Newcastle United have emerged as possible landing spot if Mohamed bin Salman is able to purchase the team. Per MARCA, Bale “is now being talked about as a priority” for Newcastle.

The Magpies will want to buy superstar players this summer in an effort to make a splash, if bin Salman ends up owning the club. At this point, the chances look high, unless if the Premier League decides to take a stand against the “sports washing” leader of Saudi Arabia.

For Real Madrid, Newcastle could be a transfer partner for two deals. The club will need to sell Bale, and he could be a big-name star for the Magpies. They also would like to sell James Rodriguez and get maximal value from a star player with one year left on his contract, and Newcastle are reportedly interested.

It is also worth noting that, per MARCA, Newcastle are eyeing former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, who would support a Bale transfer. This situation is worth monitoring.
