If Real Madrid want to make some improvements in the summer 2020 transfer window, they may have to focus on signing cheaper options instead of big-name superstars.

Over the long term, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are Real Madrid‘s top two transfer markets. They are generational attacking talents who are already world-class and could become the unquestioned two best players in the world, and Los Blancos actually have a chance at signing both of them in 2021 and 2022.

However, it’s essentially impossible for Los Blancos to sign either of them in 2020. Due to the uncertain market ahead and Real’s need to sell before buying, budget-friendly options will be. the name of the game. Here are three potential signings fitting the bill.

CB Mohammed Salisu

Real Valladolid center back Mohammed Salisu impressed Real Madrid fans in their latest head-to-head meeting. Salisu has all the traits to be one of the best defenders in La Liga, and he might already be there at the age of 21.

A leader at the back end of the defense who can get physical with anyone, Salisu fits as an ideal backup for Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane. His buyout clause is only 12 million euros, which would be an absolute steal. But since Atletico Madrid have interest, Los Blancos would have to fight to convince Salisu to join.

Real already have three strong center backs after Eder Militao‘s first season at the Bernabeu, so if they want to add more depth at the position, they won’t be able to spend on, say, Dayot Upamecano or Milan Skriniar.
