Real Madrid: Another Serie A club wants to sign Achraf Hakimi
Real Madrid right back Achraf Hakimi continues to receive significant interest from top clubs around Europe, as Inter Milan are the latest side to be linked to the Borussia Dortmund standout.
In the first game of the Bundesliga season after the season stoppage due to COVID-19, Achraf Hakimi picked up where he left off for Borussia Dortmund in a 4-0 win over rivals FC Schalke 04. The Real Madrid loanee didn’t score or assist in the latest Revierderby, but he did play a crucial role with solid defending and constant running up and down the flank to provide teasing crosses.
Hakimi is expected to return to the Santiago Bernabeu in the 2020-2021 season after two excellent seasons in Dortmund, but there’s a chance he could be sold. Dortmund would like to have Hakimi for at least one more year, if not permanently. Meanwhile, teams like Chelsea, Juventus, and Arsenal have been linked to the versatile wide man.
Now, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports, via Football-Italia.net, that Inter Milan also have interest in Hakimi. Inter reportedly want to start negotiating with Real Madrid and view Hakimi as an ideal replacement – and he’s honestly a significant upgrade – for Victor Moses. Their current wing back is set to rejoin the Blues after a loan deal, as Inter probably won’t exercise the option to buy.
Per GdS, Real value Hakimi at 50 million euros, which is reasonable in light of the COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on football transfer prices.
Hakimi is worth that kind of money due to his versatility and quality. Real are under no pressure to sell Hakimi, and he could start at right wing to replace Gareth Bale or push Dani Carvajal for minutes at right back. While Los Blancos could use the money from selling Hakimi to sign a top-notch goal-scorer to fill a bigger need, they shouldn’t take any further reductions on Hakimi’s pre-pandemic valuation.
A potential game-changer for a club like Inter, the Nerazzurri would do well to pursue Hakimi aggressively and give Real Madrid a competitive offer for the 21-year-old star.
