How would Real Madrid line up if they sign Kylian Mbappe in 2021?

Real Madrid won’t be able to sign Kylian Mbappe in the 2020 summer transfer window, but they have eyes on the PSG superstar for 2021 or even 2022.

Mbappe is already one of the best players in the world and would probably ascend to No. 1 by the time he joins Los Blancos. Signing him won’t be easy, but when the time comes, how might Real’s starting XI look with the France star in their lineup?

The biggest hole in Madrid’s starting XI is at the right wing position, as Gareth Bale will almost certainly leave the club by the time the 2021 summer transfer window ends. Bale is a club legend, but the 2019-2020 season showed that his best days at the Bernabeu are behind him. It’s time for a change.

Mbappe made most of his appearances through the middle last season and only made one on the right, per WhoScored.com, but he can play there. He often pops up all over the pitch anyway, he scored a goal in his lone appearance starting on the right in 2019-2020, and he was a danger in that area in the 2018 World Cup.

Toni Kroos – Casemiro – Fede Valverde

Ferland Mendy – Sergio Ramos – Raphael Varane – Dani Carvajal

That could be a great starting XI with Mbappe at right winger. Notice that Dani Carvajal is the preferred starter over Achraf Hakimi in this system due to his defensive work, allowing Mbappe to focus less on defensive duties.
