Real Madrid have consistency issues

As Barcelona and Atletico Madrid can attest, Real Madrid have the ability to dominate some of the best teams in European football. Atleti ripped apart Liverpool in the first round of their Champions League tilt, yet they could do nothing against Real in three matchups.

But Real’s problem is consistency. They can go from dominating Barcelona 2-0 to losing 2-1 to Real Betis. They can go from destroying PSG in their own house 2-0 to completely collapsing at the end of the game. And don’t get me started on how poorly Los Blancos played against Mallorca in October just before one of their best runs of the season.

Real can no longer afford to make these mistakes in the title race or in the Champions League. Domestically, Real are two points behind Barcelona, and any more dropped points would be catastrophic to Zinedine Zidane’s title hopes.

Things are more dire in the Champions League if the season returns in 2020. Real Madrid lost to Manchester City in the first leg and will have to travel to the Etihad Stadium to mount a comeback against one of the best teams in the world.

Los Merengues must figure out where they stand and cut down on their errors. They are often their own worst enemy.
