Some Real Madrid players need to step up in 2020.

With the current COVID-19 pandemic most probably causing financial strain on the club, there may very well be little transfer activity this summer, which means the existing Real Madrid players will need to step up this and next season too. The Whites have managed to remain competitive this season thanks to their defense, but their attack hasn’t been good this season.

With that in mind, all three players who need to step up are attacking players. If these players manage to raise their game, then Los Blancos certainly have a great dependable attack.

Without any further ado, let’s have a look a the three players:

This might cause a bit of a surprise or controversy considering Marco Asensio has spent most of this season out injured. When Asensio made his debut for the Whites in 2016/17, everyone expected him to keep getting better with time. But like everyone else in the 2018/19 season, Asensio had an off season.

With Zidane back in the managerial seat, it looked like this would be the season Asensio finally shows his best only for the ACL injury to spoil everything. But now, with the break caused due to the pandemic, Asensio has completed his recovery and can start playing games little by little.

While players returning from this type of injuries can take time to return to their absolute best, Asensio will have to step up sooner than most. Not only does the club need him but there’s a good chance that he might be shipped off in 2021 if he doesn’t show his worth. Real Madrid won’t have too much patience with him as they already have a plethora of young attacking talents on their hands.

That, combined with the fact that Madrid is in dire need of reinforcements in attack means that Asensio will have to step up.
