On loan at Real Sociedad, Martin Odegaard could make his highly-anticipated return to the Santiago Bernabeu for the 2020-2021 season, or he could remain with Sociedad for one more year to complete his two-year loan deal. It’s an uncertain situation that will be settled in the coming months, but, until then, Odegaard has a key task ahead of him.

La Real sit in fourth place and have a chance to qualify for the Champions League, and it would be incredible to see Odegaard lead the club to Europe’s most prestigious competition in 2020-2021. If they can hold onto a top-four place, Odegaard could even play Champions League football next season without even joining Real Madrid.

Odegaard is already one of the best attacking players in La Liga. The 21-year-old, per WhoScored.com, is averaging 2.3 key passes per game and 2.4 dribbles completed per game for La Real. His pressing, intelligence in the final third, creativity, and shooting range make him incredibly dangerous, and Odegaard is also capable of starting on the right side of attacks.

The Norway international has already impressed against his parent club on multiple occasions, even leading Sociedad to a win over Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey. Odegaard will soon have the keys to Los Blancos’ attack after he’s done with his task at La Real.
