Here’s what to watch when Real Madrid faces Eibar on Sunday.
La Liga will return this week, and Real Madrid will face Eibar in their first match back after the league’s postponement due to COVID-19.
Los Blancos are clear favorites in their home fixture, as they demolished Eibar in the reverse fixture in November. So there’s plenty to look forward to when Real return to the pitch on Sunday, June 14.
Real Madrid’s stars off the bench
Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio are set to return from injuries, and they could be the starting wide forwards around Karim Benzema going forward. Madridistas shouldn’t expect to see both men starting against Eibar, but appearances off the bench for these two star players should be in the cards as Zinedine Zidane gets them back into things.
Hazard and Asensio can make the difference if the game is close, and if it’s a blowout, they could get a good 10-20 minutes of action and potentially join in on the goals.
Hazard is Real’s key to winning La Liga in 2019-2020, while Asensio can emerge as an important X-Factor. The battle between Asensio and Gareth Bale for the right wing position is worth watching closely.
But most importantly, it will be wonderful to see both players back and healthy on the pitch. That’s especially so with Asensio, who has been out since the pre-season with a torn ACL.
