CAM James Rodríguez

Real Madrid’s season began with James Rodríguez as a regular starter. The Colombian worked hard off the ball and put in a string of decent performances which seemed to have (finally) won over Zidane’s trust.

However, an injury meant he was on the sidelines for a good amount of time, and coincided with Fede Valverde nailing a spot in the XI and Isco’s resurgence. Since then, James has been on the periphery, barely making an appearance.

Real’s midfield lacks depth, and one can obviously believe that Zidane might find a place for James in the squad as he can bring incredible quality.

With injuries bound to happen, James might have one final chance to revive his waning career at the Santiago Bernabéu or he could be sold in a matter of months.

CB Éder Militão

Éder Militão was signed to become the third-choice center-back behind captain Sergio Ramos and Raphaël Varane in the pecking order.

Just 13 appearances in all competitions do not justify that as he has featured much less than many expected before the season started. It’s not because Zidane has a broken relationship with the Brazilian, but because the Ramos-Varane pairing has performed exceedingly well.

Militão is more than likely to feature for Real Madrid during these 11 fixtures.

Let’s not forget that Ramos received a red card in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash against Manchester City, so Militao will surely start in that all important second leg.

He can also play as a makeshift right-back or play as a defensive midfielder, which can hand Casemiro a much-needed rest. Therefore, Militão will have a lot to prove as Zidane is going to count on him.
