That VAR decision was… not what I expected

Just over 20 minutes in, it looked like Valencia had tallied through Rodrigo Moreno to give the visitors a one goal advantage. However, head official José María Sánchez Martínez took a few minutes to consult the Video Assistant Referee and the goal was called off due to an offside.

After watching the replays for a few minutes and looking at the goal itself, I simply cannot understand why the goal was not awarded.

The descriptions I am seeing are that Maxi Gomez’s position was offside, and although he didn’t get a touch on the ball, interfered with Real Madrid’s defense. Again, I have tried to better understand why the call was no goal, and I still don’t get it.

Next. Kai Havertz knows where he will play next. dark

What I do like about the call for no goal is that one, the matched remained scoreless, and two, Arturo Vidal took the time to go on Instagram story to complain. Real Madrid is living rent-free in the heads of all FC Barcelona players and I love it!
