Real Madrid: 5 players who must shine against Real Sociedad
CB Sergio Ramos
When Real Madrid last faced Real Sociedad in La Liga, Sergio Ramos made a terrible mistake early in the game to gift La Real a 1-0 lead. Los Blancos recovered and did so with aplomb, but Ramos’ mistake prevented it from being a flawless display.
But Ramos should be able to produce a better display in June. He has been incredible in the team’s last two games, scoring against Eibar before creating goals with his interceptions and passing against Valencia.
The captain is at his peak powers and fitness, and he will need to be just about perfect against Real Sociedad’s dangerous attack. Ramos against Alexander Isak will be an exciting battle to watch.
RB Dani Carvajal
An in-form Dani Carvajal is still the envy of all right backs in European football when examining how well-rounded his play is. And it will need to be well-rounded and confident, especially defensively, against Real Sociedad and young star Mikel Oyarzabal.
There is no true backup right back on the Real Madrid roster with Alvaro Odriozola loaned to Bayern Munich. Lucas Vazquez, Ferland Mendy, and Eder Militao have all played at the position, and none of them can quite measure up to Carvajal.
He will have his hands full on Sunday, but a commanding performance from the former Bayer Leverkusen man could mean everything to Los Blancos’ title hopes.
