Real Madrid are the best team in La Liga, and now the standings reflect it.

After Barcelona dropped points by drawing 0-0 with Sevilla, Real Madrid knew they had to take advantage against Real Sociedad. Although it was a difficult match, as expected, Los Blancos achieved their goal in a 2-1 victory. Sergio Ramos converted from the spot after Vinicius Junior’s excellent work, and Karim Benzema scored yet another crucial goal for the visitors.

Now, Real are back in first in La Liga, having defeated Barcelona 2-0 in their last head-to-head meeting. But how do the rest of the teams stack up in the power rankings?

1. Real Madrid

Real Madrid have been the league’s best team for a few months now, even if injuries and their own inconsistency have prevented them from taking control of the league sooner. For example, they had first place after winning El Clasico in March, but then threw it away with a 2-1 loss to Real Betis one week later.

But now, all can be forgotten as long as Real take advantage of the rest of their schedule, which only includes a couple of tough games against Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal. They’ve conquered their toughest opponents, playing at a particularly high level in a 3-0 win over Valencia on Thursday at the Alfredo Di Stefano.
