Here is how Real Madrid could line up against Mallorca.

Real Madrid are back on top of La Liga after their win against Real Sociedad which means that they are now in full control of their destiny. Next up is a Real Mallorca side that haven’t been doing well so far this season but can be dangerous on their day.

All Madridistas will have one eye on Takefusa Kubo as well, who is on loan to Mallorca, after he has shown great promise during his time there. However, the main priority for Zidane will be to get all three points and continue their great form since returning to play.

Predicted Starting XI:

Goalkeeper:

It’s a no-brainer as Thibaut Courtois will be the man chosen between the sticks. It’s a little unfortunate that Alphonse Areola won’t be getting many minutes since Los Blancos have been knocked out of the Copa del Rey but this isn’t a time where Zidane can afford to take risks, particularly unnecessary ones.

Defenders:

This would have been a great chance to rest Dani Carvajal but we simply don’t have anyone who is a natural in that position so it seems like the Spanish right-back will be starting once again.

As for the center, Raphael Varane may have to look to his left at a new partner. Sergio Ramos received a knock in the last match and the manager may not want to take any risks with the captain.

Therefore, it may be a safe bet to say that Eder Militao will be the chosen one and he has proven that he’s capable to play whenever it’s required.

On the left, it’s pretty much a coin toss for who starts there but I would have to go with Ferland Mendy simply because Marcelo started in the last match.

Midfielders:

With one of the team’s most important players missing out due to suspension, it’ll be interesting to see what Zidane has in mind when it comes to replacing Carlos Casemiro. The most expected solution is Federico Valverde starting in his position and the Uruguayan has been very impressive almost every single time he’s on the pitch.

In front of him, we’ll probably see Toni Kroos even though he should be rested soon with Luka Modric beside him in midfield. The duo are not as strong as they were a few years ago but they are more than capable of taking care of the midfield on Wednesday night.

Forwards:

Our forwards may not be what we expect to see. Eden Hazard seems to have a slight knock and may not be risked even after missing the match against Real Sociedad. Therefore, we might see Vinicius Junior awarded with another start on the left flank after a brilliant performance during the weekend.

On the left, a betting man would go for Gareth Bale but I’ll take the route of Rodrygo Goes who we have not seen since the match against Eibar. The center forward will be Karim Benzema. Mariano Diaz has returned from injury and Luka Jovic is quite close but the team simply isn’t the same without the French striker and Zidane will definitely want to play him on the night.
