Real Madrid goes up two goals on Mallorca through Sergio Ramos.

One goal leads will leave you on the edge of your seat but two will let you lean back just a bit, and that’s exactly what Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos did in the 56th minute of the match. El Capitan was doubtful for today’s match against Mallorca after having to come off the field on Sunday’s affair against Real Sociedad after knee-to-knee contact but the centre-back wouldn’t miss a game for the world.

The Spanish Captain has taken the majority of Real Madrid’s freekicks since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo a couple of seasons ago and today it paid off. After a handball just outside the box by Mallorca, the referee pointed for a spot-kick.

Real Madrid quickly got into formation with Ramos standing several feet behind the ball as he thought about his approach and target. The wall stood tall but Ramos’ shot was of a higher degree going up and over and into the left side of the goal leaving keeper Manola Reina flat-footed.

Ramos’ inclusion in this Real Madrid side has always been of great importance and today’s goal is a clear indication of just how pivotal who could be. Sergio on a yellow card and four fouls committed didn’t lift his foot off the gas before the wonderful goal.

Sergio’s free-kick adds another rung to the ladder as the top goal scorer of any defender in the history of La Liga, with 67 to his name.

Zinedine Zidane has made a handful of substitutions as he looks to keep control of the game. Isco has made his first appearance since the restart of La Liga, a player who as expected to be out until the Champions League taking place in August but miraculously recovered from a hamstring injury in less than a week.
