Real Madrid will miss out on Achraf Hakimi, but his loan deal at Dortmund went perfectly.

Although Real Madrid fans were excited for a long-term future with Achraf Hakimi on either the right side of the defense or the attack, the Morocco international will reportedly be signing with Inter Milan for just 40 million euros (plus add-ons) due to his understandable desire to immediately start for a club.

Hakimi will have a great deal of success as a wing back under Antonio Conte, because he flourished in that role at Borussia Dortmund. Real Madrid sent him to the exciting Bundesliga club for two years on loan, and Hakimi went from being a raw, impressive prospect to one of the most fearsome and versatile players in European football.

Young players tend to thrive at Dortmund – look no further than global superstars Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland, who are on Real’s wishlist. Los Blancos enjoy a great relationship with the Black and Yellows, though they haven’t signed a player from Signal Iduna Park since Nuri Sahin failed to take the next step at the Santiago Bernabeu.

More from The Real Champs

But Sancho and Haaland are two of the world’s best and are both under the age of 23. If Real Madrid want them, they could try to pursue them in the 2021 transfer window when it’s feasible to make such a big deal economically. And if they do, they could try to entice Dortmund by loaning them Rodrygo Goes.

The idea comes from Infinite Madrid’s Muddassir Hussain, who believes a loan deal involving Rodrygo would further benefit Real’s strong relationship with BVB. I concur, and there’s importance to cultivating a strong relationship.

There is no club in Europe that prepares young stars for superstardom better than Dortmund. Again, Sancho, Haaland, and Hakimi are three current examples of this that Los Blancos fans are undoubtedly familiar with.

Even if Real have no interest in signing Haaland or Sancho and simply want to spend their money on Eduardo Camavinga and Kylian Mbappe (honestly, that may be the best strategy), a Rodrygo loan to BVB could still benefit Los Blancos.

Rodrygo is a future superstar. His career at the Bernabeu began like a fairytale when he scored a debut goal against Osasuna within seconds of joining the pitch, and only No. 9 Ronaldo has scored a faster debut goal in Real Madrid history. Rodrygo then scored a perfect hat trick in the Champions League and before the restart, no player had more goals and assists per 90 minutes (minus penalties).

The Brazilian teenager from Santos is tactically intelligent, confident as a dribbler on the left, versatile in the positions he can play, and great technically. Dortmund could be a dream fit for him, and their brand of football could really unleash Rodrygo, who would have a team built around him for two years in the same way Martin Odegaard does at Real Sociedad.

Except Rodrygo is on another level from Odegaard, and Dortmund is on another level from Sociedad. Rodrygo could have an impact like Sancho’s, albeit with even more goals, direct play, and consistency (but less assists and skill).

dark. Next. Here are Real Madrid's four strongest positions

It’s a loan move worth thinking about, especially if Sancho leaves and Dortmund decide not to spend money on Milot Rashica or Ferran Torres, whom their respective clubs should do everything to keep. And if Sancho leaves in 2021, a Rodrygo loan could happen then.
