Real Madrid probably won’t sell Luka Jovic this summer, but a high offer can change everything.
After Real Madrid sold Achraf Hakimi to Inter Milan for 40 million euros, Madridistas are prepared for a few more talented young players to leave this summer so that Los Blancos can raise more funds. Although other big clubs, such as Bayern Munich and Juventus, are making big moves on the transfer market, Real are, once again, playing it safe with their finances.
Hakimi won’t be the first person to leave this summer. James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale are two names that have long been on the sale list, while loanees like Dani Ceballos and Oscar Rodriguez could leave, too.
Striker Luka Jovic joined Real Madrid for 60 million euros last summer and seems to be an important part of the future, but the former Bundesliga superstar could also be sold for the right after. And perhaps Napoli could make that offer.
According to a report from Mirko Calemme of AS, Napoli are indeed trying to sign Lille striker Victor Osimhen, who was once on Real’s radar. If they can’t sign Osimhen, though, Napoli will reportedly renew their interest in Jovic.
The Serbian striker has garnered interest from another Serie A club in Milan, who have been linked the most heavily to Jovic. Ralf Rangnick will be in charge of Milan in 2020-2021, and the former Bundesliga ace for RB Leipzig and FC Schalke 04 has certainly seen what Jovic is capable of.
Real Madrid are willing to listen to offers for Jovic, but they need to be the right offers. Something in the ballpark of 50 million euros could make this deal go through, but there are a lot of unanswered questions remaining.
Primarily, questions about Osimhen, who is the top target for Napoli. If they can’t sign him, a bidding war between Milan and Napoli could ensue for Jovic, increasing the chances that Real end up looking for a different No. 9 to develop behind Pichichi candidate Karim Benzema.
