The grades are in for every Real Madrid player from the 2019-2020 La Liga season.

As everyone was getting used to the ‘new normal’, Real Madrid came steamrolling into the return to play as they won ten out of eleven matches to be crowned champions of La Liga to keep Zinedine Zidane’s promise of making the league the number one priority. However, does that mean that the full squad performed well during the course of the season?

Thibaut Courtois – A

A shaky start to the season was followed by some of the best goalkeeping performances that we have seen in a while. Thibaut Courtois had the backing of Zidane throughout the early days of the campaign and he returned the manager’s trust to come out with the Zamora trophy and help his team massively in their hunt for the La Liga title. This will be a season to remember for the Belgian and he’ll definitely want to build from here.

Alphonse Areola – C+

Stepped up whenever he was needed and even had many people asking for him to start over Courtois earlier in the campaign. However, the more we saw Areola, the more it was clear that he will always be a backup in the team. This isn’t to not give credit where it’s due but unfortunately, the performance that stands out the most is the Copa del Rey exit against Real Sociedad.

Diego Altube – N/A

Third choice goalkeeper and didn’t have any opportunities to show his capabilities.
