Carlos Casemiro – A

The tank. Is there anything else to say? Zidane’s dependence on Carlos Casemiro is clear to see and it’s extremely understandable – there is no one else who can offer the team what Casemiro can. He does the dirty work on the pitch and continuously puts himself in the line of fire for the team. He’s irreplaceable.

Federico Valverde – B+

Remember when Real Madrid were trying to buy Paul Pogba? Well, Federico Valverde came in and showed that Pogba may not be as required as people initially thought. Granted, the Uruguayan isn’t as good as the French midfielder but he’s good – he’s really really good. Valverde has quickly become the ‘go-to’ player for Zidane in the big matches and he has always performed really well. As time went on though, the manager chose to try him out in different positions, and even though he did the best he could, it’s difficult to see the true skills of Valverde when he’s not in the middle trying to run through the defenders and stop any dangerous attacks.

Luka Modric – B-

This may seem like a harsh grade if you’re looking at the Luka Modric in the past eleven matches but those matches shot up the grade! Modric looked 34 before the suspension of play but once the team returned, he automatically played like he was 27! The Croatian has regained his best form just when the team really needed him and all signs are pointing towards him spending one more season at the club.
