Marco Asensio

The first entry goes to the player who is the best fit for the right wing position and thus the most likely to be the starter in 2020-2021. Real Madrid were linked to right wingers like Mohamed Salah and Ferran Torres during the season, but there’s just about no way they are able to purchase a star player in the 2020 summer transfer window.

Marco Asensio is as good as some of the players Real have been linked to. It was wonderful to see Asensio return against Valencia, scoring with his very first touch after returning from a torn ACL in the preseason. Asensio then had an assist for Karim Benzema to seal a 3-0 victory.

The left-footed Asensio played well in his other games, too, adding another goal to finish the season against Leganes. His shooting ability has always been held in high regard, and that sweet left foot of his makes him the favorite to start on the right. With Dani Carvajal providing running and service, Real Madrid need Asensio as that goal-scoring threat opposite of Eden Hazard and Vinicius Junior on the left.

Asensio also has the trust of Zinedine Zidane, who immediately saw Asensio as a starter upon the Spanish international’s return. The spotlight will be on him in 2020-2021.
