Real Madrid attacking midfielder Takefusa Kubo has a preferred landing spot, and Zinedine Zidane agrees with him.

The 2019-2020 season was a fruitful one for Real Madrid‘s many talented loan prospects, and Takefusa Kubo was among the standouts. Playing at Mallorca, Kubo showed off his future world-class potential at a relegation side in La Liga, but now he’s ready for the next step.

A handful of clubs from Spain set to play in the Europa League in 2020-2021 have shown interest in Kubo, such as Real Sociedad, who currently have another Madrid standout on loan in Martin Odegaard.

But there’s one team in the Champions League who could sign Kubo on loan, and that is former Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla.

According to a report from Defensa Central, Takefusa Kubo’s preference is to play for Sevilla in 2020-2021. And the same report states that his manager, Zinedine Zidane, sees eye-to-eye with the teenager.

Key to Zidane’s reported agreement is the success of left back Sergio Reguilon at Sevilla. Reguilon was one of Europe’s best left backs in 2019-2020, playing an instrumental role in the club finishing in the top four, even on points with Atletico Madrid. Reguilon earned 2,500 minutes for Sevilla and is expected to stay there on loan in 2020-2021.

Kubo would get valuable experience at Sevilla in the Champions League and a chance to blossom with so many talented payers around him. Striker Youssef En-Nesyri could also take a leap forward in quality with Kubo in the attacking midfield, and right winger Lucas Ocampos was one of La Liga’s top 10 players in 2019-2020.

All three of those young stars could help each other a lot on the pitch at the same time, and Kubo appears to be a wonderful fit for Lopetegui’s system.

If both Kubo and Zidane want the deal and Sevilla are pushing harder than rivals Real Betis, Granada, Villarreal, and La Real, then it seems like this is a loan deal that could get done before long. Kubo is ready for primetime.
