Toni Kroos must start

Zinedine Zidane opted for a midfield bereft of the German and therefore paid the price for it as City dominated the middle third. It was a decision that took even Pep Guardiola by surprise.

However, Zidane could right the wrongs by starting Toni Kroos in central midfield so that Real Madrid can have a greater control on the match. Kroos is fundamental to the way the team plays. He is an authoritative figure in midfield who dictates the play and orchestrates the attack.

The German’s presence can turn the tide is Real’s favor, as his panache on the ball and exemplary passing can stun the Manchester side. He is also good at delivering free kicks and corner kicks which creates chances for other players to head the ball in.

If Kroos starts the game (which he must and he will, in all likelihood), Real Madrid can play better football and cause Pep’s men a lot of trouble.
