Score at least two more than City or win on the basis of away goals by scoring three or more

Mathematically, Real Madrid just need a 2-0 victory to knock Manchester City out. However, if Real do concede, they will need to score at least two more than City to win.

Los Blancos could also progress to the quarterfinals by scoring three or more goals, provided City score lesser goals than Real do in the second leg. That way, Real Madrid would win the two-legged tie on the basis of more away goals.

Much of the goal-scoring burden will fall on Karim Benzema’s shoulders, although he will be assisted by a hopefully fit Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio, who scored thrice in nine appearances after the resumption of La Liga.
