Real Madrid won’t make any major signings this summer, but they won’t neglect following Europe’s best young players either.

While Real Madrid have said they won’t make any signings this summer and want to save every penny to afford top target Kylian Mbappe in 2021, they won’t stop scouting and evaluating the best young players in European football.

Los Blancos had an especially good opportunity to keep tabs on the Bundesliga’s best young players when German football was the first to resume play. The Bundesliga is known for high-octane talent, whether it’s Erling Haaland or Dayot Upamecano.

But let’s take a look at five less-heralded young Bundesliga players for Real Madrid to potentially sign one day.

Borussia Dortmund CB Dan-Axel Zagadou

If Real Madrid want to sign French center back Dan-Axel Zagadou from Borussia Dortmund one day, they would have to open the pocketbooks. After Manuel Akanji’s disappointing 2019-2020, Zagadou could start next season. Dortmund are high on the growing center back, whose technical ability is off the charts. And once he gets his confidence, his reading of the game will shine through.

Zagadou stands out for the French youth team as being head and shoulders above the competition on and off the ball. He’s the perfect modern-day center back and could be an ideal player for Real Madrid one day. It would be irresponsible for Los Blancos not to monitor the 21-year-old’s development closely.
