There isn’t a single player on Real Madrid with a bigger point to prove in 2020-2021 than Eden Hazard. The newest superstar at the Santiago Bernabeu, Hazard was unable to immediately justify his 100 million euro price tag due to multiple ankle injuries.

Before his first ankle injury against PSG, though, Hazard was the most in-form player in La Liga alongside Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema, who finished the season as the undisputed top attacking players in Spain’s top flight.

Hazard had a four-game stretch of the campaign where he was averaging about seven dribbles completed per game and five fouls drawn per game. That’s the standard he’s capable of setting, and the former Chelsea superstar knows he didn’t meet it at Real Madrid.

But Madridistas have faith in Hazard. They know that Hazard was the Premier League’s best player for several years, and they saw, in flashes, what he can do in La Liga.

The 2020-2021 season is a crucial one for the Belgian left winger, who will feel young stars Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Junior breathing down his neck for playing time. But Hazard is not the kind of player you want to bet against. He can do it all as an attacker and has shown a desire to work for his new club. Hazard wants to succeed badly in Madrid.
