Real Madrid attacking midfielder Takefusa Kubo is in high demand, with many La Liga clubs wanting a loan deal.

After an encouraging 2019-2020 season on loan at Mallorca, Real Madrid attacking midfielder Takefusa Kubo is ready to take a big step forward in 2020-2021 at a larger club. Even Champions League qualifying clubs like Ajax and Sevilla have shown interest, but it seems more likely for Kubo to both stay in La Liga and play for a club that can give him regular playing time.

Los Blancos likely prefer Kubo to play for a team that can compete in the Europa League or Champions League next season, but regular playing time in the same league that Real play in is of paramount importance.

Although they are a club that fought off relegation and are barely an upgrade over Mallorca in that sense, Celta Vigo can certainly offer Kubo playing time.

According to a report from MARCA’s Guada Guerra, Vigo are the latest team to show interest in Kubo, joining a sweepstakes that includes more than 10 teams at this point.

It seems like the favorites are Real Sociedad among Europa League clubs and then Osasuna among the rest, with Osasuna offering plenty of promises of playing time to the Japanese attacking player.

Celta Vigo struggled in 2019-2020, but they have more talented and experienced players than Mallorca. Iago Aspas is a legend of La Liga. Denis Suarez, Nolito, and Hugo Mallo have been effective players in the league for quite some time. Santi Mina and Fran Beltran are two very talented young players.

Kubo could help restore Vigo to being a proud La Liga side and not a team fending off relegation, because his creativity and skills in midfield could help unlock some of the other players who didn’t have great 2019-2020 seasons for the club.

The ability to be a centerpiece player and elevate others is what Kubo needs, and Mallorca honestly failed in that respect. Whether Vigo, Osasuna, or someone else, Real Madrid need to find a La Liga club willing to do what Real Sociedad system-wise for Martin Odegaard last season.

Vigo are an option to keep open, because while Real Madrid have bigger clubs on their radar as Kubo’s next loan move, Vigo do have something to offer. It’s just that, as MARCA notes, they might not have the finances to pay Kubo’s wages and the five million euro loan fee Real seem to be looking for.
