Here is the report card for Real Madrid’s young players from the most recent La Liga campaign.
Real Madrid have world-class stars in their primes like Toni Kroos, Raphael Varane, and Thibaut Courtois, as well as top veteran performers like Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos. But they also have an eye on the future with most of the most impressive young players in European football.
It’s time to grade every player under the age of 23 who either played for Los Blancos last season or received a significant amount of minutes on loan in a country’s first division.
AM Takefusa Kubo
So many clubs in La Liga are lining up with interest in Takefusa Kubo, who distinguished himself as Mallorca’s best player in the 2019-2020 season. Kubo’s dribbling ability is a sight to behold, and he shows no fear on the ball, even against the biggest clubs. He was on the losing end against Barcelona and Real Madrid, but in both games after the break, he showed that he has the tools to be a world-class player in La Liga.
A move to a club where he can be a centerpiece player would be ideal, and it seems like he will almost certainly head to a La Liga club in 2020-2021. Sevilla, Villarreal, Granada, and Real Sociedad have all been linked, and Kubo has shown that he has the quality to be playing at the Europa League or even Champions League level next season.
