Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez will most likely be sold this summer, and another big club is interested in him.

James Rodriguez had a positive start to the 2019-2020 season for Real Madrid, but now it has become clear that his time at the Santiago Bernabeu is coming to a close. Injuries did not help the Colombian playmaker at all, but James’ spot in the rotation was truly doomed by breakout performances, such as Isco’s return to form.

A quality assist provider and even goal-scorer who can help plenty of clubs around Europe, James should be able to find a suitable landing spot this summer. Big clubs like Manchester United have already been linked, and now a club capable of winning the Champions League is show interest.

According to a report from Le10Sport, via MARCA, PSG are showing interest in James Rodriguez. Per the report, Jorge Mendes, James’ agent, has offered James to the Ligue 1 giants, which sounds an awful lot like what he may be doing to try and get James to United.

More from The Real Champs

It’s hard to see James getting much playing time at either United or PSG either. PSG’s attack is definitely loaded, and if they want to make space for James, they’d have to sell an even more valuable player in Julian Draxler, whom they’ve pretty much been wasting on the bench. So if Draxler can’t even get a shot at PSG, can James?

The deal could actually happen, though, if James and Mendes push enough for it.

James is a talented player, he’s marketable, PSG won’t be worried about his affect on team chemistry, and he can play some cup games here and there due to all the competitions Ligue 1 teams play in.

The same would go for United, yes, but PSG may be more interested than the Red Devils in an older attacking player.

James doesn’t have many great options when it comes to getting playing time, since his agent won’t want him to go to a smaller club. And it’s unlikely any club that isn’t on the level of United or PSG can afford to pay James’ wages.

The report from Le10Sport mentions Real Madrid’s asking price, which is rather egregious. Real Madrid would like 35 million euros for the No. 10, and it seems like PSG would be the only club that would even consider paying that much money for him.

If they want him, he’s basically theirs. For Real Madrid, this is the best-case scenario – a bloated sale to PSG for James.
