Real Madrid still have some work to do when it comes to their ability to score goals.

Armed with the best defensive record in Europe’s top five leagues with 25 goals allowed per game, Real Madrid won their 34th La Liga title. But there were times during the season when Real struggled to score goals, finishing with fewer than two goals per match.

If Real want to compete for the Champions League trophy again, then they must become a more efficient scoring team. Here are five questions surrounding their attack following the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season.

1. Can another forward score 10 goals?

Karim Benzema was La Liga’s Most Valuable Player, carrying Real Madrid’s attack with 21 goals to finish second in the league behind Lionel Messi. Sergio Ramos finished second on the team with 11 goals, and he was followed by midfielders Toni Kroos and Casemiro with four goals apiece.

Los Blancos had serious issues with finding the back of the net, and it is troubling that no other forward managed to score 10 goals. Zinedine Zidane needs a wide forward to step up as a scorer in 2020-2021, whether that is Eden Hazard, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, or Marco Asensio.

In 334 minutes, Asensio scored thrice. So, by statistics from the 2019-2020 season only, he could be the one to emerge as the secondary scorer next season.
