3. What will Eden Hazard’s role be?

Real Madrid left winger Eden Hazard could fulfill his destiny as the team’s superstar player in 2020-2021. When Los Blancos signed him for 100 million euros last summer from Chelsea, Hazard was seen as a dream signing and a perfect fit to help take Real to the next level in Zinedine Zidane’s second stint as manager.

Once he got acclimated to the team, it certainly looked like Hazard was on that path. He was impossible to stop in the Fall, skilling past defenders and starting attacks with ease, hooking up with Karim Benzema to shred through Champions League and La Liga sides alike.

After his first injury struck, Hazard showed effective football in spurts, but he never looked like a star. And fans were especially disappointed with his play in the Champions League second leg at Manchester City, in which the Belgian looked far from 100 percent.

Real Madrid need Hazard to be a goal-scoring threat and chance-creator. They need the assists and goals to reflect his quality, because there needs to be end product with a player of Hazard’s caliber. He can be the one to make the difference, but he must be healthy.

There is also the matter of his position. He is best on the left side of the formation, but if he is too wide, he is isolated. That was the issue at City. Could he play in the floating role on the right like Isco? Perhaps, and that would have the benefit of giving Vinicius Júnior and Rodrygo Goes reign on the left.
