Real Madrid could look just south of the capital to sign a promising striker from Getafe. Hugo Duro could join Raul and the Castilla team on loan this fall that will include the option to buy at the end of the deal.

In the midst of a deep run in the European Youth League, Raul Gonzalez is trying to bolster the Real Madrid youth team with more attacking talent. His top target, according to reports, is 20-year-old striker Hugo Duro.

Duro has been on Real Madrid’s radar for some time now. In fact, the team was very close to signing the Spanish international permanently back in 2018, but conflicting interest from Sevilla prevented the move from going through.

The thinking here – at least from what I understand – is that Los Blancos will bring Hugo Duro in on loan in the next couple of weeks. Manager Zinedine Zidane will have an assessment period during the abbreviated preseason to decide if he wants Duro as an option on the first-team or to remain with Raul and Castilla.

Over the course of the season, then, Duro will likely feature regularly for B team and make bench appearances here and there for the senior team if he is deemed worthy.

I like the idea a lot! Duro, over the last three seasons, has been receiving more and more playing time and bigger responsibility in the Getafe first-team. The Spaniard is a quality pressing forward who loves to help out on defense.

However, there is still plenty the player needs to learn. He lacks discipline in his challenges – in 12 appearances he received three yellow cards – his passing was rather lackluster as he completed under 60 percent of his attempts, and he was only averaging half a shot per match in La Liga during the 2019/2020 campaign.

Much like Reinier Jesus, signing Hugo Duro will be a multi-year process. Karim Benzema is still the best option up front, Luka Jovic is doing his best to adjust to life in Spain, and Mariano Diaz is likely on his way out.

Next. Reinier is primed to be the next breakout loanee. dark

Getafe manager Jose Bordalas has shown a lot of faith in the promising striker and it is one of the reasons Raul is so intrigued by him. The deal is still in the preliminary stages and there have been very few reports on the issue, but I think this deal goes through.
