Real Madrid need to make some sales this summer, and they should get decent money on a transfer within La Liga.

Last season, Real Madrid striker Borja Mayoral had a strong season for Levante, even scoring against Los Blancos in September. In total, the frequently-loaned 23-year-old scored eight goals with two assists for Levante in La Liga.

Mayoral received significant interest from Lazio this summer, but the Rome-based club ultimately decided to sign Vedat Muriqi.

Now, it looks like Mayoral could stay in the city of Valencia, as Onda Cero reports that the Spanish forward is “very close” to signing with the La Liga club.

Valencia have had an eventful summer and are dealing with financial trouble, so they had to sell key midfielders Dani Parejo and Francis Coquelin to rivals Villarreal for a mere eight million euros. However, Valencia do need some talent in their attack, and Mayoral can be a nice piece of the puzzle for them.

Real Madrid no longer had a place for Borja Mayoral

It sounds like Real Madrid could get 15 million euros from Valencia for Mayoral, since Valencia seem to be willing to pay more than Lazio were after Lazio made the Muriqi signing. But Valencia don’t have much money right now, so it will be interesting to see the price both La Liga clubs ultimately agree upon.

Mayoral is a nice player, but he never had a future at Real. The club has Karim Benzema as the full-time starter, Luka Jovic developing behind him, and then Mariano Diaz in need of a transfer and Brahim Diaz in need of a loan behind both of them. Mayoral was always expendable, and the time for loans has run its course.

It sounds like Madridistas can expect a deal between the clubs to be announced shortly, and fans will wish Mayoral nothing but the best of success at the Mestalla in 2020-2021 and beyond.
