Real Madrid has always signed top players from around the world and has often bought players from the Premier League.

Real Madrid has always been one of the biggest and greatest clubs in the world. The mere idea of playing in the white of Madrid tempts every player around the world and attracts the biggest stars of world football to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Over the years, Los Blancos have bought many players from the Premier League, one of the top five leagues in the world, with the most recent players being Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois. Some signings have gone on to become Real Madrid legends while others were deemed as flops.

5. David Beckham

David Beckham was almost on the verge of joining FC Barcelona, with United and the Catalonian club even announcing the deal, only for the Englishman to end up at Real Madrid becoming part of the Galacticos. While this might be a surprise inclusion considering Beckham only won two trophies, his transfer proved important for Real Madrid elsewhere.

Beckham was a part of the club’s strategy to get World-class and famous players to increase their global brand and fan following. With Beckham, Madrid got a player who was extremely popular everywhere, with links in Hollywood and a chance to increase a well-established fan base in Asian countries.

This isn’t to say that Beckham failed in the sporting sense at Madrid. The team as a whole failed to win too many trophies with Becham leaving only with two trophies. Beckham even seemed to have lost the trust of the manager and the fans in his last season, only for him to then turn the situation around. But by then Los Blancos had already sold him and despite their efforts, couldn’t overturn the sale.
