Another signing from Tottenham Hotspur made in the summer of 2012, Luka Modrić arrived at Real Madrid for a transfer fee of £30 million. He has since then gone on to become one of the best center midfielders in the world ever.

When Modrić arrived at Real Madrid, he struggled to get game time and was called the worst signing of the summer by Marca in December. Modrić then went on to turn his situation around brilliantly, starting with a dominant performance as a substitute against Manchester United in the Champions League.

He hasn’t looked back since then and has gone on to cement his status as a Real Madrid legend. He has won 17 major trophies at the club including four UEFA Champions League titles, two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and four FIFA Club World Cup titles playing a key role in every trophy he has won.

After a dip in form in 2018/19 due to burnout from the World Cup, he has again returned to great form, especially after the COVID break, and showed everyone he can still contribute at the age of 34.

Could it really have been anyone else? 451 goals in 438 appearances, a trophy haul that includes 4 Champions Leagues, 3 Club World Cups and UEFA Super Cups apiece, 2 LaLiga titles, a pair of Copas del Rey and 2 Spanish Super Cups and countless other personal achievement make him arguably the best player ever to play for the club.

Signed from Manchester United for €94 million in 2009, Ronaldo was then the costliest transfer but has repaid every penny of the transfer amount with his performances. Signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United is easily the best PL transfer in the history of the club.
