Manchester United appear to be the favorites to land Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid, but Los Blancos want two things in a transfer.

Real Madrid value young left back Sergio Reguilon highly, but they know he won’t be able to obtain regular playing time in 2020-2021. Minutes are incredibly valuable to Reguilon at this stage of his career, and he knows it. While loaning him back to Sevilla, who qualified for the Champions League, is an option, Real do need cash.

Everton, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United, and clubs outside the Premier League have all been linked to Reguilon this summer. Lately, it seems like United are the overwhelming favorites to land Reguilon, as they have the money to pay 30 million euros for the left back.

According to a report from ABC Deportes, Real Madrid are willing to transfer Reguilon if they receive a suitable offer. And 30 million euros from United seems suitable.

Real Madrid want something similar to the Achraf Hakimi deal

But ABC Deportes reports that Real also want to more things in any deal involving the 23-year-old. Firstly, they would like to have a 25 percent sell-on clause. Secondly, they would like to have the right of first refusal to any transfer, which is similar to what Real and Inter Milan agreed to in the Achraf Hakimi sale.

Madridistas will be sad to see two great attacking fullbacks in Reguilon and Hakimi leave the club this summer, but neither was going to start next season. Further, Real have another young left back coming up in Miguel Gutierrez, who could be Marcelo’s successor behind Ferland Mendy on the left. And on the right, Alvaro Odriozola is a nice backup option for the entrenched Dani Carvajal, who remains one of the world’s elite right backs.

Reguilon doesn’t want to close the door on his Real Madrid future completely, but he needs playing time. If Manchester United can’t agree to the terms Real have laid out, then he could go to Sevilla for another year. But since United need Reguilon and Reguilon could benefit a lot from playing in Manchester for, possibly, a longer period of time than a year, it looks like this deal could happen.
