Real Madrid are having a difficult time finding a team interested in transferring for Gareth Bale.

Once one of the best players in the world, Real Madrid right winger Gareth Bale is now riding the bench at the Santiago Bernabeu. Marco Asensio’s return to health and immediate form, in addition to Rodrygo Goes’ quality performances on the right side last season, mean that Bale no longer as a place in the starting XI.

Bale is frustrated with his situation at Real Madrid, which hasn’t been helped by his lack of goals or production. The class is still there, but since he’s never scored in La Liga since last September’s brace against Villarreal, Real can no longer count on him.

A change of scenery is needed if Bale is to recapture his previous form, but Real Madrid haven’t found any takers yet. Bale’s salary remains onerous, even for Premier League clubs like Tottenham and Manchester United. Yet Bale doesn’t want to take a paycut to facilitate a move. But let’s be honest here, who, in his position, would? Especially when they are working with a high-powered agent who has their own financial interests.

Real Madrid, Gareth Bale are in a messy situation

According to Cadena SER, via Deportes Cuatro, Real Madrid may have to settle on releasing Gareth Bale outright and paying for half of his salary since interested clubs are only offering to pay a maximum of eight million euros of his 17 million euro salary.

It’s a messy situation that Gareth Bale, Real Madrid, and the fans would like to see end, hopefully peacefully. Florentino Perez and Real wanted to see if things could work in 2019-2020, but the situation has become untenable for the club.

Releasing Bale hardly seems like an ideal solution for Los Blancos, but it may be the only solution if they don’t receive any legitimate offers this summer. Keeping Bale in the hopes he bounces back seems like a better idea than releasing him, but if he doesn’t want to be there and they can save some of his wages with a release, then they may have to go that route.
